Path 1 recommendation is based on more than completing a series of training activities. It is a combination of self-directed study, training, practice and demonstration of your competency in coaching new church starts.
To be officially recommended as a Path 1 Coach, and be promoted as such to the larger church, you will need to complete the following (in no particular order):*
- Basic Coaching Training
- Path 1 Coach Facilitation Intensive
- Path 1 Coach Consultation Intensive
- Reading Assignments with Online Quizzes (these will change over time). The 2010-11 list is:
- The Forgotten Ways: Reactivating the Missional Church by Alan Hirsch >>Take quiz
- Ten Most Common Mistakes Made by Church Starts by Jim Griffith and Bill Easum >>Take quiz
- Christ-centered Coaching: 7 Benefits for Ministry Leaders by Jane Creswell >>Take quiz
- Boot Camp or Basic Training for Planters (with Jim Griffith and Associates or equivalent)
- Coached by a Mentor Coach (minimum of 5 hours)
- Apprenticing with a Mentor Coach in coaching a new church plant
- Application and case-study based online examination (contact us)
To keep up with the latest ideas in church planting, we recommend coaches and potential coaches attend the Innovation Forum.
Additionally, we can accomodate Annual Conferences who want Path 1 to deliver training onsite. Contact us for more information.
